Conducting Symposium
Conducting Symposium
This year the QBA will be hosting its annual Conducting Symposium at the Schulich School of Music at McGill University. We are privileged to have our own Alain Cazes as the guest speaker for the day. The day-long symposium will include rehearsal suggestions,
advice on improving conducting technique, and for the first time, real-world interaction with the fabulous McGill Wind Symphony. Alain Cazes' input as an arranger will no doubt inform his explanations on approaching the score.
Attendees who register can put their names forward as conducting candidates to work with the McGill Wind Symphony. Participants may choose from a variety of levels:
Blue Ridge Saga (Swearingen)
Three Folk Miniatures (Jutras)
First Suite in Eb- 1 movement (Holst)
Do not feel the need to be on the podium! You can gain just as much by being a part of the performing band in the afternoon, or simply observing. Delegates are encouraged to perform with other participants during the conducting masterclass which focuses on score study. Scores may be ordered through JCL Cartier or St. John’s Music. DEADLINE TO REGISTER: January 29, 2010.
