MUSICIANS' EXPECTATIONS

Concert Policies
- Attendance is mandatory at all QYWE activities. In situations where absence is unavoidable, the musician will notify a personnel manager at least one week in advance in writing. In cases where advance notice was not possible, the musician will contact a personnel manager within 24 hours of the unexplained absence. Repeated absences from QYWE activities will result in a reassessment of the member's continuation with the ensemble by the Conductor and General Manager.
- Musicians will arrive at rehearsal with their music, pencil and all parts practiced/prepared.
- Each musician is expected to participate in any and all fundraising activities and will be required to sell a minimum number of tickets and post publicity material at every opportunity.
- Each musician will pay a registration fee, via cheque, made out to the "Quebec Band Association". If payment cannot be made in full, the fee may be paid in three installments via postdated cheques. The cheque(s) must accompany the musician's application form at or before the third rehearsal.

Ensemble Policies
- Age: Musicians from age 15 up to and including age 25, as of January 1st of the performance season, are eligible to become members of the ensemble.
- Registration Fees: The fee for the entire season is determined on a yearly basis. This non-refundable fee can be paid in three installments via postdated cheques (payable to the "Quebec Band Association"). All cheques must be submitted together and must accompany the application form and musician's contract. See "2017-18 FEES" .
- Absentee Policy: Attendance is mandatory for all QYWE activities. In situations where absence is unavoidable, it is the member's responsibility to notify a personnel manager. Notification should be provided at least one week in advance. If advance notice is not given, a musician must contact a personnel manager within 24 hours of the unexplained absence. Repeated absences from QYWE activities will result in a reassessment of the member's continuation with the ensemble by the Conductor and General Manager.
- Participation in Publicity: Each musician will be required to sell a minimum number of tickets.
- Audition Policies: Individual auditions for QYWE are held at the beginning of each season and throughout the year as needed. Auditions are required only for new applicants to the ensemble.
Rehearsal Policies
- A detailed rehearsal schedule will be available shortly on this website. Rehearsals for QYWE take place on Wednesdays from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. However, changes in the rehearsal and/or concert schedule may occur. We will ensure that advance notice is given for each change.
- Unless otherwise specified, all rehearsals for QYWE are held in Montreal West.
- Members must allow enough time to warm up and to organize their music in order to be in their seats and ready to play at the scheduled rehearsal start time.

- Players are encouraged to have their own insurance coverage for their instruments, as QYWE does not take responsibility for loss or damage of personal property.
Concert Policies
- Dress: Concert dress for all members is all black, unless otherwise specified. No running shoes or white socks allowed!
- Dress Rehearsals: Attendance at dress rehearsals is mandatory. They usually occur the rehearsal prior to the concert, but could even happen during the day of the concert. Do not book other appointments (e.g. dentist).
