What are the QBA Awards?
QBA Awards recognize outstanding achievement in music education and performance across the province. These awards celebrate the dedication, creativity, and accomplishments of students, educators, and ensembles, highlighting excellence in school bands, orchestras, and music programs. By honoring both individual and group contributions, the QBA Awards aim to inspire continued growth, foster community engagement, and emphasize the vital role of music in education and personal development.
How do I Nominate Someone?

Members of the QBA are encouraged to nominate colleagues for the following awards (more information below):
The nominator is requested to send by November 1st the following information:

The Award will be presented at the Honour Band Concert. The recipient’s school or organization shall be informed of the award. A press release and photo shall be submitted to Canadian Winds. The recipient’s name and a brief biography shall be placed on the QBA website.

Distinguished Band Director AwardThis award shall be presented to a Quebec band director who has made an outstanding contribution to band in Quebec. This contribution must be consistent with the ideals of the QBA. The nominee shall be an exemplary individual who displays strong musical leadership in their community and the province. Over the course of their career, the individual shall show a consistent promotion of musical excellence.

Award of DistinctionThis award recognizes a non-music educator or individual who has made an outstanding contribution to music education in Quebec (administrator, parent, volunteer, etc.)
Retirement AwardThis award recognizes the contribution of a QBA member who has recently retired.
