​If your students or recent graduates would like an opportunity to continue playing great and challenging
band music with other young musicians, the
Quebec Youth Wind Ensemble* might be the perfect
place for your motivated current and former students!

*Students must be between 15 & 25 years of age

QYWE's Mission is to...

  • Develop a high calibre ensemble that draws from different communities in the Greater Montreal region.
  • Provide a creative outlet for young musicians who would like to pursue a high level of musical performance.
  • Perform challenging repertoire from the wind band tradition at a high level.
  • Compete and participate in competitions and festivals to represent the growing artistic talent that Quebec has to offer.
  • Work and collaborate with guest artists and composers.
  • Provide positive and life-enriching experiences through the study and performance of wind band literature.

DIRECTOR: GUY COX

Guy is thrilled and honoured to be directing QYWE.  Having played in elite high school bands and youth orchestras across Nova Scotia, he is only too aware of how such musical experiences can be life-altering.

Guy's positive high school music experiences led him to McGill to pursue a bachelor of Music Performance, to which he later added studies in music education. Throughout his degree, Guy was a member of the McGill Wind Symphony, Brass Choir, Early Music Ensemble and McGill Symphony Orchestra.

Seeking additional playing and employment opportunities, Guy became a member of the Canadian Armed Forces as a musician. He played for the Ceremonial Guard in Ottawa, and has been a member of the 438 Squadron Air Force band for the past twenty years.

Guy has been teaching music in Montreal schools since 1996.

REGISTRATION, REHEARSALS & AUDITIONS

Regular rehearsals are held in Montreal West
Wednesdays from 7-9pm

Registration fee: $350 for the season
